DOT4+ 브레이크/클러치 오일을 DOT3 권장 시스템에 사용해도 되는가?

DOT3과 DOT4의 주요 차이는 브레이크 오일의 비점(끓는점)입니다. DOT3 규격은 DOT4보다 낮은 최소 비점 요구사항을 가지고 있습니다. 제조사마다 다르게 만들어지며, 모두 Dry(건조) 비점과 Wet(습윤) 비점을 표시합니다. 규격을 간신히 통과한 DOT3 오일도 있고, 그보다 30-40°F 높은 성능을 낼 수 있는 제품도 있습니다. 바이크가 DOT3을 지정하면 일반적인 상황에서는 어떤 DOT3이든 안전하게 사용할 수 있습니다. 다만 고급 DOT3이나 DOT4를 사용하면 더 많은 안전 마진을 확보할 수 있습니다. Dry/Wet 수치의 차이는 브레이크 라인 내 수분 축적 때문입니다. 처음 에어 블리딩 후 새 오일을 넣으면 'Dry' 상태로 작동합니다. 시간이 지나면서 수분이 혼입되어 성능이 'Wet' 수준으로 저하됩니다. DOT5는 실리콘 기반이므로 서로 호환되지 않습니다.
