Oooh, that's a decent idea of using separate portage for BBB, M11rph. The Aston is back from it's service and all is well. Yes, we will be more circumspect as we pass through Switzerland! The Austrians seem to love a speed limit change every 10 meters though so it's easier to get caught here I feel. I'm being very careful with my speed from now on - BBB has stated that two speeding fines would be fairly careless. Today was as far East as we'll get on this holiday, and consisted of toll roads.https://maps.app.goo.gl/Vju38zEHG6qeTWog9Out of Mayrhofen we turned up and headed to the Gerlos pass. In the lower section we got stuck behind a truck that was just crawling at 20kph - there was even a tractor getting held up. We couldn't believe our luck after yesterday but eventually we pulled over into a layby with a forestry road. We took a 10 minute walk up there to look at moss and ferns to allow some time for the traffic to sort it's st out.And this seemed to do the trick because we had quite an open run for a while. We caught up to some cars just as some cows were getting led across the road. We were about 5th in line and the cows came across the first car, left to right. They stood in a pasture for a bit while all the cars in front of us went, but then we had movement again so I sat still whilst the cows walked directly at the car and then passed either side with millimetres to spare. This was not relaxing.But the cows knew what they were doing so all good and we had a nice run up to the toll booths. The Gerlos is 12.50 Euros for a car and the lovely little Austrian grandmother at the toll gate gave us a big smile and "hope you have a nice day". We tried to fit her in a suitcase to bring her home, but no go.The road got real good and there was a very manageable level of traffic.We stopped off and had a gander at the famous Krimmi waterfalls.
