To this day I honestly think they thought I was gonna steal it!!!!!Anyway once out of the hole - gave it back to the driver and suggested everyone else walked to the next beach road exitWe had company for the next 200 yrd walkA response to an old post and slightly O/T but it made me laugh.A few years back I was driving along Daytone Beach, in a minivan...Parked up for the day facing the beach wall, when it came time for leaving the van wouldn't budge, gave it some gas in reverse and the FWD van dug itself down to the axles very quickly.A group of locals who looked like they've seen it happen a hundred times ran over and ushered us all (5 adults) to get into the van and continue to floor it in reverse whilst they pushed.The van was going nowehere. My niece from the back asked "do you have the handbrake on" - it was a foot operated parking brake which I wasn't used to and yes, it was fully on stopping those back wheels and the van from moving whilst a bunch of helpful locals were staring at me through the windscreen pushing with all of their might, red faces and blood vessels popping. Oops.I quickly released the footbrake without saying a word, the van bumped out with ease, the locals all high fived each other and waved me away, whilst I sheepishly trundled along the beach with my family howling with laughter at my stupidity.Anyway
