I have wondered the same for years and just mainly assumed people are doing better than me.However, I have heard of some funny arrangements whereby person A has taken out a lease, the other-half chips in as well has her nan as she is taken to the shops once a week.etcPersonally I couldn't be bothered, however people are suckers for new shiny things.

I rarely drink, my holidays are usually UK based, I tried to do everything as cheaply as possible without being ridiculous. I don't like all this talk about people buying coffees or avocado on toast being the reason they can't afford a house. But by the time you add up a few coffees or meal deals per week, a takeaway (somehow ends up costing £40 now), an average car lease, netflix, TV package, prime, spotify, gym memberships, maybe some sort of recovery or warranty on the car, phone contracts running £50-£80 a month, you suddenly see where all that money goes. I even saw one internet post somewhere saying that 10 years of coffees adds up to like £18750 or something "and that's not enough for a deposit so enjoy your coffee instead". Well it's enough for a deposit on a small house, and it's £18750 closer to a deposit on a larger house.
