증상
1.3L 스코다 펠리시아(캐브레터 엔진, 촉매변환기 없음)에서 지난 1-2개월간 배기음이 변함. 처음에는 혀로 입술 사이에서 내는 음성 같은 '찍찍' 거리는 소리(윙윙거리는 듯)였고, 최근 며칠간 더욱 심해져 트랙터 같은 저음의 윙윙거리는 소리로 변함. 1500-1800rpm 이상, 스로틀 20% 이상 열 때 시작되며, 부드럽게 운전할 때는 거의 들리지 않음. 배기계통은 3부분으로 구성됨.
처리 내용
엔진 운전 중 배기관 한쪽 끝을 막고 파이프/박스 다른 곳에서 연기가 새는지 확인(배기가 뜨거우니 주의, 오래 막으면 엔진 정지). 시각적으로 각 부품을 검사하여 제대로 장착되어 있는지 확인(쉽게 분리되는 부분 확인). 일부 배기 '박스'는 내부 부품(소음 감소용 작은 파이프 포함)이 떨어져 나갈 수 있으므로 교체 필요할 수 있음. 엔진 정지 후 배기계통을 가볍게 흔들어 내부 부품의 헐거운 소리 확인. 또한 소음이 자동차 앞에서 나는지 뒤에서 나는지 확인 필요. 앞에서 나면 배기관 시작 부분(엔진 연결부)의 장착 상태와 배기 가스켓의 손상/소손 여부 확인.
