If that comes as a bit of a shock to some of you reading this, it's as much of a shock to me to be honest! So why sell it if I love(d) it so much? A few things really... Firstly, a bit like I did with the 1M, I suddenly realised that I'd sort-of done everything with it that I wanted to do, and I was now doing things for the second or third time, only faster. The only thing I never managed was a proper track day but I can live with that. I'm sure it would have been great but really, more great than an Atom? I doubt it. More than once recently I found myself considering taking it out for a drive and not bothering, because it was SO clean and SO perfect.. which is a sure sign it's time for something else. In addition, it's in fine form after everything I've done to it. As part of the sale it went through a full three hour inspection at RE and they pronounced it (as I knew they would) one of the best they've seen. I could sell it on to someone knowing it was perfect and they could carry on enjoying it. The only other thing I could have done to it was fit an exhaust and I was massively in two minds about that. Audi's ongoing support for the car also made me nervous long-term. There's stories now of R8s being stuck on ramps for weeks (and months) waiting for some stupid part because Audi has it on endless back order. Genuinely, Audi don't give two sts about these cars anymore. Don't get me wrong, a V10+ is THE safest end of the R8 spectrum, but it niggled at me nonetheless. And so, with prices on the rise thanks to being dragged up by other entry level supercars like Gallardos going crazy, and the winter just ahead, it felt like the right time to put it up for sale and see what happened. I halfheartedly put it up on PH, and with a very strong but fair price. It was the best of the cars up for sale at the time, even from dealer

In a multi story that I was using earlier this evening, the MOT ran out in May 24. I do find the car park ones odd, I've seen other seemingly abandoned cars in other car parks, I'd love to know the reasons.

Writing the title made me wonder how many rear engined coupes have existed. I got 911 (obviously), some Alpines, Delorean, Fiat / Abarth versions of the 850. There must be more.But this is none of those. Its Japanese, made in the '80s and sold here in reasonable numbers. But they are now firmly in the category of 'rare but nobody gives a st'. I'm debating what I do with a speedo conversion. Plus point with the Lockwood is you get mph and kph whereas converting it on the CAN leaves you with mph only. Or I could just leave it in Km. I'm fairly used to doing it in my head that way around. Of course, there was an incident in the Forester where I forgot it was converted and I took it up to an indicated 100 thinking 'this feels strangely fast'
