증상
2010 VW 골프 디젤 완전 방전된 배터리. 언덕을 이용한 점프 스타트 시도했으나 작동하지 않음. 정상 시동 시 대시보드에 '클러치 페달을 밟으세요'라는 메시지 표시됨. 언덕을 내려가며 기어를 물린 상태에서 클러치 페달을 밟고, 속도가 올라가자 동시에 키를 돌리고 클러치를 뗐으나 엔진이 시동되지 않음.
처리 내용
점프 스타트 성공 조건: 배터리 전압이 완전히 방전되지 않아야 함(최소 8V 이상). 배터리가 너무 방전되면 스타터를 돌릴 전력은 없지만 전기 시스템은 작동할 수 있는 경우도 있음. 이 경우 점프 스타트가 스타터 역할을 하고, 교대로(alternator)가 충전을 시작함. 배터리가 교대로를 여자(excite)할 수 있는 최소 전력도 없으면 시동이 불가능함. 구형 디젤 엔진(기계식)은 언제든 점프 스타트 가능했으나, 현대식 디젤은 전자식 연료 차단 솔레노이드를 사용하므로 점프 스타트가 어려움. 현대 차량은 배터리 방전 시 충전이나 부스터 케이블 사용이 필수.
