Which of these cars would you rather have your 4ft tall child hit by at 20mph.I think the Quattroporte would take them out below waist height and they’d roll onto the bonnet, run up there to the raked screen and be spat out to one side whilst the car comes to a stop a little further along.Looking at the waist height/height of bonnet of the X7 it’s just going to slap them in the chest/face at bonnet badge level, knock them straight down in front of the car (they won’t end up on bonnet, it’s too high) and run them over.Or maybe the science says otherwise.

In a car-to-car crash, then you'd be nuts to actively want to be in the lighter car.Unless you're proposing a maximum weight limit for cars (which, incidentally, we do already have) then what's your solution?'As a pedestrian, being hit by a 1.5 ton car has the same result as being hit by a 2.5 ton car.' This is entirely wrong. It's as wrong as saying the speed makes no difference. Kinetic energy is half the mass x the square of the velocity.I'd have a maximum weight limit of cars. And a limit of the height of the bonnet.Nobody wants to be in the lighter car in a crash. That's why you make laws to protect all. Laws aren't about self-interest.Cars are now getting so heavy that they're much more dangerous for others - pedestrians, cyclists, people in cars. Thus, they should be limited.Go on then. Are you seriously saying a 70kg person hit by a 1500kg car at, say, 50mph gets a meaningfully different outcome to the same situation with a 2500kg car?So you want a new law. Reasonable enough. What's your new law? What about at 20mph?2.2 tonnes would seem more than manageable. What about it? As a pedestrian at 20mph you're probably surviving both, and at 50mph you're not survivin
