증상

Short journeys (as we all know) are a death sentence for EGR valves and DPF, but particularly on these. My wife sold hers to her BiL who used it for 18 months going to and from work two miles away. He never serviced it once in all that time. When I stole bought it back from him, the first thing it needed was an EGR valve because it was coked solid. Now it's getting regular long journeys it's singing along.

Replacement SpeakersThe front speaker surrounds had deteriorated, so rather than replace with original paper cone drivers I went with an aftermarket coax set with reasonable frequency response (54Hz – 25 kHz) and high sensitivity (94dB). These came as a kit for the Corsa D and cost a very reasonable £57.99 delivered.Comparison of old and new showing degradation of the foam surrounds.I have a selection of sound deadening and vibration absorption materials left over from the Fiesta project, so I decided to use some of it on the Corsa.Vibration damping of the outer door skin.Vibration damping and sound absorption applied to the door cardsFitted. I can't provide a direct comparison as the original speakers were shot, and the replacements will need time to bed in, but I can tell based on experience that these perform better than the type fitted as OE. A benefit of the sound absorbing is that the sound is more absorbing, which helps with the impression of road noise.Glow Plug Replacement and MaintenanceThe EML was on for three failed glow plugs. I must admit that I was not looking forward to this task having read of snapped plugs, and removal of DPF or even the turbo itself to make room. I went with Beru plugs as they are OE. I also picked up some ceramic grease for the plug threads (I dropped the fastening torque setting from 10nm to 9nm to take into account the greased threads).I figured out that actually all I needed to do was remove the turbo inlet pipe and top heat shield, then use a 1/4 drive with a deep drive 9mm socket and universal joint at the glow plug end. Straight-forward. One of the original plugs was tight, so I used some CT-90 then worked the plug clockwise and anti-clockwise until it began to unscrew cleanly.I cleaned the MAF whilst I was at it.I also replaced the fuel filter, air filter, thermostat housing (with stat and sensor), and coolant.DPF Forced/Manual RegenerationWith the glow plugs replaced and EML cleared I could now run a forced regen.
