re. the refrigerant - If you take the car to Quik-Fit they will empty the system for free (probably best to ring first to check but I've done it on a few cars..). This is actually a requirement if you work on the AC system of a car as the gas is pretty nasty for you and the environment.Once that's done it's pretty simple, just nuts n bolts but do fit a replacement drier though if you're opening the system up.

Hows the refinement, being a newer car is the Clio more comfortable or more raw?That's a very interesting comparison.The Celica wins in terms of its engine character (if you have the VVTL-i variant which I think you have), the Clio's engine is punchy but that 8,750rpm redline on the Yamaha engine is second to none. The Clio's engine still sounds great though, which also has a lovely snarl lower down thanks to an induction pipe to the cabin.Genuinely though... that's it. Everything else about the Clio runs rings around the Celica. The Clio is far more refined and modern in comparison, with the build quality to match. I spent a number of years transforming the Celica into the type of car it should have been; lowering that awfully high ride height, replacing the poor brakes, and so on. You don't need to do anything on the Clio, it's sorted from the get go. In terms of straight line performance, they're similar. The Clio is slightly quicker off the mark but nothing you'd notice in real-world scenarios. Handling however, the Clio is much more agile. I was able to upset the rear quite easily on the Celica, but the Clio's is much more predicable having now driven it on track. You have a functioning rear diffuser with 40kg downforce at 80mph, much more functional looks thanks to the engine cooling vents on the front, and has a nice amount of presence on the road. One of my favourite bits of its performance though is its close-ratio box; it feels like a mini race car. You do get a high-revving 6th gear on the motorway, but this isn't too bad at all and certainly doesn't spoil long-distance drives. The facelift RS200 has a longer 6th, but you have to put up with that new front-end and those wheels. Looks are subjective, but I really do prefer the 197's wheels and bumper.The build
