They wouldn't, but the extra weight of EVs might exacerbate the problem of purchasing those inappropriate tyres, because there's a greater scope to buy under-specced tyres with an EV because, I'd venture, more EVs need special weight rated tyres than combustion cars. And people moving from Golfs, Focuses, Astras etc might not be acquainted with the need to consider weight ratings and just buy the cheapest tyres in the required size as they have always done.Just my conjecture.
