There isn't a huge amount on the F gen Alpina that is actually specific to it. Lot of it is just BMW parts bin stuff.Box is definitely not bespoke to the Alpina, likely as you said a 30/35d box. I have older Alpina's with Switch-Tronic boxes and they are definately breathed on (internal components changed or uprated) by Alpina. ZF themselves hold a list of the different components in the boxes for ZF dealers and specialists to access and while the filters and most of the architecture hardware will be the same some of the internals may have been changed. It's why the Alpina parts catalogues do list both BMW parts numbers if the parts are sourced from a car different to the base car, and Alpina part numbers if they are engineered by Alpina in some way - you wouldn't suggest that because a Bilstein shock absorber looks the same as the Alpina one it is the same would you?TLDR, if it has an Alpina part number rather than a BMW one, it has been altered to some extent.

In a multi story that I was using earlier this evening, the MOT ran out in May 24. I do find the car park ones odd, I've seen other seemingly abandoned cars in other car parks, I'd love to know the reasons.

Writing the title made me wonder how many rear engined coupes have existed. I got 911 (obviously), some Alpines, Delorean, Fiat / Abarth versions of the 850. There must be more.But this is none of those. Its Japanese, made in the '80s and sold here in reasonable numbers. But they are now firmly in the category of 'rare but nobody gives a st'. And only a handful remain. It's a car I've had a yearning to own and got outbid on one at auction many years ago. I'm debating what I do with a speedo conversion. Plus point with the Lockwood is you get mph and kph whereas converting it on the CAN leaves you with mph only. Or I could just leave it in Km. I'm fairly used to doing it in my head that way around. Of course, there was an incident in the Forester where I forgot it was converted and I took it up to an indicated 100 thinking 'this feels strangely fast'
