Pleased the day went well in general mate and the car handled well. Interesting on the brakes though. When the Vantage S was introduced it used a 380mm front 2 piece floating disc (up from 355mm, non floating) and a 6 piston Brembo caliper (up from 4 piston) and Pagid RS4-2-2 pads. These are much more capable. Add braided lines and Castrol SRF fluid and I reckon you’d be ok on track. You can usually buy caliper spacers to enable the existing caliper to accept a bigger disc, but I’d swap out the caliper for the beefier 6 pot too.
Hey thanks guys!To respond to you alllThe newer cars and vantage s variants actually have proper brake vents built into the lower bumper so they do well especially when combined when bigger discs n padsIn my case 911 scoops i feel really did wonders because my car managed to for full 2 hours plus before giving up completely. The fluid boiled before the pads gave out as i still ended the session with around 30% pad lifeWithout the scoops i reckon fluid would have boiled after 3 aggressive laps or so In terms of noise i tested 105db at 5k static with valves open and 91 closed But i cheekily ran it valves open the whole duration and no black flags First few laps i was in quiet mode then the roars of c63s zipping around gave me the confidence to just open the valves as they were equally loud on full chat. The stock pads are genuinely admirable and a mega all round pad but have a thermal limit of around 450 to 500 degrees before glazingnext session late september if the other fellas agreePBS ProTrack (8017PT) around 180 for fronts Potentially new rear stock pads as they are at 50% a full fluid flush with rbf and the car should be much better for itThe pbs pads have similar manners but the thermal limit should be around 250 degrees higherI will eventually get those bigger 370 or 380mm floating discs all round but as and when the stock discs die they still have around 70% life measured. It was the only aston on track that day and man did people soak it upAll in all the car was alot of fun handled like a dream the suspension and geo meant it was near impossible to break traction and felt noticeably faster on the drive home hahaEdited by jafbash786 on Friday 17th July 22:17
