Back on the line diving the spaces with the front over hanging the bay by a foot, and risk getting hit by cars driving by.Front on the line and encroaching on the rear bay.Buy a smaller car?Like all parking situations, there is no "always do it this way" approach. My preference is to find a space where I can drive or reverse in (depending on whether I'll need to get to the boot) and overhang a grass verge or other ground that people won't need to walk on, so it doesn't affect anyone. But that's not always possible, so you just minimise the impact overall. Some car parks you need to prioritise getting out of the roadway because it's tight and awkward. So you absolutely need to find a space where you can pinch some of the adjoining space. Others, there's no need and you can overhang the roadway a bit.It's obviously always tight with two big cars in adjacent spaces. I once encountered a cretin who had reversed in (or more likely, driven through) an XC90 to a parent and child bay, she came back to her car just as I had parked. I reversed out a couple of metres to let her get to her boot, assuming she'd get her kid strapped in, pushchair in the boot in a minute or less
