But all the ones for sale seem to have tons of rust advisories and quite a few have oil leaks, both diesel and petrol. Plus marketplace is just full of scammers and dodgy sellers. Small automatics are like rocking horse poo. Very rare and as a result you are asked to pay about double what the manual equivalent would be. We were going to look at a Yaris later. I was already concerned by rust advisories from 2 years ago and then the seller messaged (fair play to him for his honesty) to say that he didnt want us to make a fairly lengthy trip (about 75 mins drive) without knowing an oil light had popped on this morning. I think it was "oil level" not "oil pressure" but it was enough for me to say to my wife, "look lets just leave it". So the search goes on!!! Anyone here with a small automatic, e.g. a nice reliable automatic Toyota Yaris, or Citroen C1/Pug 107/Toyota Aygo that isnt rusted out (where is Bearman 68 when you need him) please let me know by DM. I know it's not exactly what you are looking for but you might have more success going one size bigger, e.g. golf or focus auto. There should be more to chose from. Yeah actually our search is moving in that direction as she likes Golfs for some reason. However my mechanic buddy reckons VAG autos from the period are best avoided, so I really am not quite sure what to look for!! Locally a seller wants £2,800 for a 130,000 mile 2011 MK6 Golf 1.6 TDI, that gives you some idea of how expensive these cars are for what they are.....I mean not so many years ago a 15 year old 130,000 mile car was around £500.

It was amazing and I will probably miss it slightly for the roads on my doorstep but.... I've owned an Elise before a beautiful 111s S1 but it was so raw with the short gearing it made the Caterham feel easier for euro trips. Quite like that. Seems good condition & obvious curio out of all the hatches of the time.Treat it like a mini exotic GT car rather than a Type R rival & I recckon it fits the brief.Price wise given the scarcity of these is about correct for the right enthusiast. Should get some money off as well I would argue.
