How to begin learning engine tuning?

처리 내용

this is only one of probably many paths that you could take, but this is what I've done: go online to a local community college and look through automotive classes they offer. Select an intro class (or maybe few different classes) and note the textbook they are using. Buy and read that text book cover to cover. The intro book had great overview (as well as many details) into general workings of a car. That one book is enough for you to go the track, talk to race guys and actually know enough terms to hold up your end of a conversation (although stick as much as you can to listening :) ) Buy few books on engine tuning. There are some good ones but some are also old. General theory still applies and if book has good reviews, I suggest you read it. However few things, like porting heads (using dremel to optimize air flow inside heads/intakes) no longer apply as new technology, like CNC along with computer modeling, can pretty much produce optimal heads which will get no benefit from manua

Hello! I have not driven my car for a month and now have this noise. It is a 2016 V Jetta and normally in great shape. The noise is in the background and sounds like something soft is rubbing against something. It picks up at 10 mi/hr or so and then stays on…Thank you! https://global.discourse-cdn.com/cartalk/original/3X/3/f/3f6ae6628ea80cf8d6b1899d0b2392d868545516.mp3

Power seat - Whenever vehicle is started or shut off and the seat slides forward of back, the power seat makes an annoying, obnoxious noise… I thought something was stuck in the track but now I think it’s the motor going out. Guy at the local dealership said it just needed grease. He appears to be incorrect. Any thoughts? Thoughts?

A buddy and I were trying to replace his right front wheel hub, on his 2008 Chevy Impala LTZ. He described the engine size as 3900, I would think that means 3.9 liter, although I didn’t know there is a 3.9, I only know of the 3.8 liter and 3,1 Liter. One of the mounting bolts is so tight that the socket would not keep a grip on the bolt head, no matter how hard we tried to force the socket onto the bolt head. We had tapped on it as best we could with a hammer and metal rod, we heated the area with a torch, no luck. Of course, very little access to this bolt head, so impossible to use an impact
