I think, in general, gaining access to an EV tariff combined with shifting domestic loads to off-peak periods will lower, not raise, the cost of the electricity to run the house. Our weighted average price is 22.2p / kWh with a 47p standing charge - obviously if most of our consumption is in the daytime we'll end up paying more, and if we shift it to off-peak by setting timers on the dishwasher and laundry, we'll pay less.Looking at the last bill, our actual average rate was 18.12p/kWh.Edited by otolith on Monday 7th September 18:51

So this is a new addition to the garage. It is the Roadsport model with the 1.8 K-series engine with 140bhp and the optional LSD. It has only done 4500 miles since 2002, so it needs a little bit of recommissioning and the tyres are from 2001 for example. So once I've sorted a few bits and bobs on it, I will be able to start enjoying it. I'm excited about it because I've never had a performance car that has been lighter than 1100kg, so it is definitely something a fair bit different to what I'm used to. Here is a pic of me collecting it, and a couple of it in the garage too. I will update when

Its crap to cut, crap to weld, and even crapper to weld to stainless. The only advice I can give is that best practise to join inconel 625 and Stainless is to use an Inconel 625 filler rod. Follwed a Vauxhall Astra van this morning for a 1/4 of my commute, down a lovely country road with a 60 limit, it never got above 38mph, mostly 32/33 Then drove through a 30mph limit village at... yep, you guessed it, 38mph!! LOL. Ironically, he also had VXR Racing sticker stuck on the back?? Just as my commute was coming to an end, I ended up in line of 4 or 5 cars, the one at the front dawdling on green L plates so newly passed, but was swerving right into the left hand edge and braking every time an oncoming vehicle approached. Is that how we are teaching people to drive these days FFS?! I

I recently sold my Volvo V60 R Design, nice car, nice engine (5 cylinder of course..mmmm) but didn't do anything else for me, silly low profile tyres (i know spec sensitive), potentially ruinous in all aspects, and just wasn't being used mainly, a depreciating asset costing me money just sat there! - so sold it, got a good price as the used market is still silly, but good for sellers of course.So, we have been down to a one car family, the BMW E91 is still trooping along, we have managed fine with the one car up to now with abit of juggling, but - I have been tempted to buy a cheap shed/run ab
