Looks perfect - really well done and just in time to really start enjoying it properly!
I managed to pick up a reasonably priced Cayman rear spoiler which was unfortunately silver, but I dropped that and my original side vents off at my local, friendly body shop for painting. I decided to have the lower portion of the spoiler painted as well because the matt black looks a bit cack.On Friday, I popped to the body shop to collect them. Having been unsure about my DIY black vents, I decided to try body coloured ones.Painted lower section, which has come out really well.Having thought about this mod pretty much since I bought the, I didn’t waste any time in getting the spoiler fitted. Quick comparison of old and new.Removing the old one is really easy - put it in the deployed position, push the centres out of the three push rivets and the body coloured portion pops off to reveal two 13mm nuts that hold it to the adjustable rams. With both nuts removed, the lower section just slides off.Test fitting of the lower section. The top part is held in by seven T20 screws. And fitted. In the down position, the spoiler wasn’t sitting flush with the boot lid, so after I’d finished taking photos, I removed it and used a 4mm allen key to adjust the height of the rams.I also popped in the body coloured grilles. These are an improvement over the black because they don’t stand out so much. It’s better this the stock colour which didn’t have enough of a contrast against the grey paint.Pretty happy with the spoiler; I like the ducktail that’s visible from the side but the gap is quite noticeable. The Cayman bumper has a section that kicks up to close this. Some fit the Cayman rear bumper as well, but the boot lids are different shapes so you lose the shut lines and I think that’d annoy me more than the gap. With the spoiler up, the Cayman one looks much better in my opinion.Stock Boxster spoilerCayman spoilerOne thing that’s always annoyed me was the broken mesh insert in the drivers side roll over hoop. These are rare used and when they do come up, they’re really expensive. If its styling fuses a little 6GT with a little 720S, I can't see it going far wrong.Building an SUV is a sad but perhaps necessary evil. Performance manufacturers should really look at a different set of priorities to luxury marques. A McLaren, Ferrari, Lambo, Porsche, or even Bentley SUV should be something that could conceivably win a race. Make the body low and wide, and if it has to be jacked up, make it jacked up for sand dunes and mud pits, not Kensington kerbs and speedbumps. Most importantly, make it weigh less! Else there's no S about it, it's just a big fat squishy UV.
Writing the title made me wonder how many rear engined coupes have existed. I got 911 (obviously), some Alpines, Delorean, Fiat / Abarth versions of the 850. There must be more. But this is none of those. Its Japanese, made in the '80s and sold here in reasonable numbers. But they are now firmly in the category of 'rare but nobody gives a st'. And only a handful remain. It's a car I've had a yearning to own and got outbid on one at auction many years ago. More recently I contacted a seller on FB, we agreed a price and then he blocked me...So I broke the first rule of car buying and bought one s

I'm debating what I do with a speedo conversion. Plus point with the Lockwood is you get mph and kph whereas converting it on the CAN leaves you with mph only. Or I could just leave it in Km. I'm fairly used to doing it in my head that way around. Of course, there was an incident in the Forester where I forgot it was converted and I took it up to an indicated 100 thinking 'this feels strangely fast'
