Superb cars.
The Jag has performed it's first major roadtrip - 1400 miles across to France, with a brief trip into Luxembourg / Germany too. We're back with no breakdowns, so I'll take that as a win! The trip started with a journey to Folkestone for the Euro Tunnel - this immediately had my nerves peaking as we sat in a traffic jam on the M20 in 35C temps with the aircon struggling to keep us cool - my eyes were pinned to the temp gauge, but fortunately it didn't move a millimetre. This was further tested at the terminal, where we spent another hour in the car sat in traffic, but again coolant temp stayed rock solid. After many hours of delays we were on the train:A few hours later we arrived at our first stop in Paris. The Jag looked pretty damned good parked outside the apartment:Unfortunately parking was limited to 2 hours, so I had to leave it in a multi-storey car park for 3 days. I wasn't entirely comfortable with this, but luckily the car was fine when I went back to it to move to our next destination. We were now heading east, but stopped off for some essentials:After this we arrived at our main base for the trip in the Lorraine region, which was a lovely house in a little village between Metz and Nancy:We had a few day trips out from here, including a trip into Nancy. This proved one of the more challenging drives as it turns out the underground city centre car parks are not really designed for a car as long as an S Type - a lot of maneuvering was required to get round the tight turns, but eventually I found a nice spot:What I didn't release is that the ceiling sloped down diagonally to the back wall, so when I popped the boot from the inside it whacked the ceiling and left a nice scuff in the black paint. Annoying, but hopefully I can polish the worst of it out.Another day trip out was to Germany, to tick off a PH-worthy bucket list item. It was time to take the wholly unsuitable 22-year Jaguar to the Nurburbring! We left early Sunday morning with the aim of

Writing the title made me wonder how many rear engined coupes have existed. I got 911 (obviously), some Alpines, Delorean, Fiat / Abarth versions of the 850. There must be more. But this is none of those. Its Japanese, made in the '80s and sold here in reasonable numbers. But they are now firmly in the category of 'rare but nobody gives a st'. And only a handful remain. It's a car I've had a yearning to own and got outbid on one at auction many years ago. More recently I contacted a seller on FB, we agreed a price and then he blocked me...So I broke the first rule of car buying and bought one s

I'm debating what I do with a speedo conversion. Plus point with the Lockwood is you get mph and kph whereas converting it on the CAN leaves you with mph only. Or I could just leave it in Km. I'm fairly used to doing it in my head that way around. Of course, there was an incident in the Forester where I forgot it was converted and I took it up to an indicated 100 thinking 'this feels strangely fast'
