Bought this in June as I was keen to try a more “classic” feeling car (more on this below). It’s a 1995 Griffith 500 (N reg) in the following spec:Giallo FlyNavy interior and roofWhite stitching on the seatsYellow trim on the carpetsYellow dialsOriginal Pioneer head unit!A few pictures including petrol station and stationary on the M25 shots. It’s a non-PAS and non-aircon car. Badge on the plenum is 500 HC but my understanding is that this was either whatever badge TVR had lying around or a truism/marketing on TVR’s part as all 5.0s were “highlift cam” cars! HC in TVR world, as far as I can
Been using the Griffith pretty much every week (lucky with the weather until recently!) which has been great, and it seemed to be running nicely. I was keen to have it checked over engine wise though so booked a rolling road session/tune at BD Engineering down in Kent. Had a really great experience (having chosen them off the strength of online reviews only) - Andy, the owner, is highly skilled and massively experienced, doesn't do ecu work or remaps, old fashioned engine tuning, carb setups etc only, so perfect for the Griff. Had a variety of 60s-90s stuff in when I was there - proper. Anyway having set up the car on the rollers and run it up a couple of times, with a small tweak to the distributor, it made 257bhp and 275lb/ft. Not quite as much as I'd hoped, but in the right ballpark for a standard car with all cats in place, and more importantly fuelling perfectly, running clean, no signs of cam softness or any other issues. Obviously it also sounded awesome on the rollers, so I drove home a very happy man. So engine side ticked off, I now want to get it up on some ramps at a specialist and see if anything needs doing there. I'm hoping not (I'd inspected it pre-purchase and James Agger tidied a few things up) then it's likely to be suspension as the next job. Edited by _Neal_ on Saturday 31st October 08:40

Writing the title made me wonder how many rear engined coupes have existed. I got 911 (obviously), some Alpines, Delorean, Fiat / Abarth versions of the 850. There must be more. But this is none of those. Its Japanese, made in the '80s and sold here in reasonable numbers. But they are now firmly in the category of 'rare but nobody gives a st'. And only a handful remain. It's a car I've had a yearning to own and got outbid on one at auction many years ago. More recently I contacted a seller on FB, we agreed a price and then he blocked me...So I broke the first rule of car buying and bought one s

I'm debating what I do with a speedo conversion. Plus point with the Lockwood is you get mph and kph whereas converting it on the CAN leaves you with mph only. Or I could just leave it in Km. I'm fairly used to doing it in my head that way around. Of course, there was an incident in the Forester where I forgot it was converted and I took it up to an indicated 100 thinking 'this feels strangely fast'
