Such bad luck Sam, and how bloody annoying is that!
Not a huge amount to report with the Boxster really. I’ve still not replaced the screen or any of the iterations things either. Whoops. Friday lunchtime it was given a quick clean and a coat of QD ready for a trip to Donnington on Saturday to watch some racing with the chaos from Staffordshire Porsche Owners and Drivers (or S.P.O.D for short). The day at Donnington was good watching the Boxster Cup, Legends etc was fun. It even kept my 12 year old lad entertained all day which surprised me. There were some cracking cars out yesterday. I’m a bit odd brace I sent get more excited about stuff like this Cayman R than some of the really mental stuff. Although I was very taken with the GT4RSMy lad and I enjoyed walking through the race cars. We hung around until the parade lap for club cars. I wasn’t expecting to drive fast, but being stuck behind an MSV van restricting us to 7pms was annoying! Still a good experience especially with the roof down and the sun setting. My plan is to SORN the Boxster at the end of November and stick it in the garage. Partly because it’s generally really clean underneath so keeping it away from the salt will be good and I’m hoping that keeping it as a fun car will keep me in love with it. I need to do a bit to the garage over the next few weeks; narrower racking to free up a bit of access space, a checkerboard floor for cool factor and get a plug socket nearer the battery so I can stick it on a C Tech. I’ll then have time and space to tick a few jobs off and not be impacted by the weather: fit the new starter (tue current model one is getting lazy especially when it’s hot) change the secondary air pump and check valve (the CEL still comes on occasionally) paint the wiper arms redo the scuttle trims get the centre console painted in body colour get the roll over hoops painted in body colour get the arm rest, door cubby bins and grab handles retrimmed in alcantara to match the other bits I’ll then replace all of the suspension arms when it com

If its styling fuses a little 6GT with a little 720S, I can't see it going far wrong.Building an SUV is a sad but perhaps necessary evil. Performance manufacturers should really look at a different set of priorities to luxury marques. A McLaren, Ferrari, Lambo, Porsche, or even Bentley SUV should be something that could conceivably win a race. Make the body low and wide, and if it has to be jacked up, make it jacked up for sand dunes and mud pits, not Kensington kerbs and speedbumps. Most importantly, make it weigh less! Else there's no S about it, it's just a big fat squishy UV.
Writing the title made me wonder how many rear engined coupes have existed. I got 911 (obviously), some Alpines, Delorean, Fiat / Abarth versions of the 850. There must be more. But this is none of those. Its Japanese, made in the '80s and sold here in reasonable numbers. But they are now firmly in the category of 'rare but nobody gives a st'. And only a handful remain. It's a car I've had a yearning to own and got outbid on one at auction many years ago. More recently I contacted a seller on FB, we agreed a price and then he blocked me...So I broke the first rule of car buying and bought one s

I'm debating what I do with a speedo conversion. Plus point with the Lockwood is you get mph and kph whereas converting it on the CAN leaves you with mph only. Or I could just leave it in Km. I'm fairly used to doing it in my head that way around. Of course, there was an incident in the Forester where I forgot it was converted and I took it up to an indicated 100 thinking 'this feels strangely fast'
