ajprice said: I hadn't seen this thread for a while, catching up on the interior, today I learned that 997 911 interior parts are interchangeable with Boxster/Cayman parts. For some reason I thought there would be something about them that meant they wouldn't fit, especially the door cards. Nice job with the coloured interior From the B-pillar forward the 9X6 and 9X7 cars are essentially identical, interior included.
Just to clarify, I'm not looking for new engine swap projects. This Cayman is ripe for something cool and I'd love to do something different but I only have time and money for one engine swapped Porsche. I've not even felt what mine is like on full boost yet so the 2.7t isn't about to get ditched. It's either swap it all into the Cayman or just stick with the Boxster.MDifficult said: My money says you've got to at least have one full summer of enjoying the Boxster before you pull it apart again. I'm sure the Cayman represents the better solution if you're building some kind of track weapon but for high days and holidays (which is what you seem to prefer using this car for) then roof down HAS to be the answer. Do something else with the Cayman or just fix it up and move it on as a nice car. There is a possibility I waste another summer in the garage, I managed to spend 2 months trying to bleed air out of my charge coolers. On the roof down, I generally only use the car in decent weather so I do have the roof down quite a bit, I might miss it although I think I'd rather the Cayman if I was starting it all over again and had the choice. Just seems a more fitting base vehicle for 700bhp. I'd also take black over silver as a colour option. I'd probably swap the terracotta into the Cayman, I think it'd look awesome in a black car.

Writing the title made me wonder how many rear engined coupes have existed. I got 911 (obviously), some Alpines, Delorean, Fiat / Abarth versions of the 850. There must be more. But this is none of those. Its Japanese, made in the '80s and sold here in reasonable numbers. But they are now firmly in the category of 'rare but nobody gives a st'. And only a handful remain. It's a car I've had a yearning to own and got outbid on one at auction many years ago. More recently I contacted a seller on FB, we agreed a price and then he blocked me...So I broke the first rule of car buying and bought one s

I'm debating what I do with a speedo conversion. Plus point with the Lockwood is you get mph and kph whereas converting it on the CAN leaves you with mph only. Or I could just leave it in Km. I'm fairly used to doing it in my head that way around. Of course, there was an incident in the Forester where I forgot it was converted and I took it up to an indicated 100 thinking 'this feels strangely fast'
