The mode average occupancy of a car is one. The driver. So this works Storage capacity in a car matters. This has plenty, even if it is a wonky shape. Another tick. It looks great. Tick. Less people are in relationships and having children than previous generations, so family cars are less in demand. More ticks. Hey VW, get this priced right, and it could be a hit.
Just to put those energy efficiency figures into context, the article says that the old car could do 300mpg on the test cycle and 100mpg in reality. Converting those to miles per kWh, if you do it on the basis of energy in a gallon of diesel, 100mpg is 2.22 miles per kWh and 300mpg is 6.66 miles per kWh. If you do it on the basis of CO2 emitted vs CO2 from charging from the UK grid, 100mpg is 1.12 miles per kWh and 300mpg is 3.35 miles per kWh.So, real world consumption of 100mpg is - on energy terms - about where the least efficient large EVs come in, things like minibuses and transit vans and the Mercedes G-Wagen. On CO2 terms, the only EV getting close to that bad is an electric Hummer. The test figure, that looks better. 6.66 miles per kWh on energy is better than any current production EV, and 3.35 miles per kWh on CO2 equivalence is, well, a bit crap in comparison to the energy figure, but you'd get the same test figure for something like a BMW iX.There is a massive gotcha in there, though. That 300 figure - actually it should be 310mpg - is on the more optimistic NEDC test cycle. And the XL1 is a plug-in hybrid with a 31 mile electric range, so to calculate the NEDC test figure they do the test once with the battery fully charged (whole cycle done on electric, no diesel consumed) and once with the battery flat (actual diesel consumption measured) and take a weighted average of the two. We are treating the energy in the battery as coming for free and saying that it's amazingly efficient. Like testing a Jag V12 with two fuel tanks and ignoring the first one it drained! And actually we do know what its efficiency on the battery is, it's a 5.5kWh battery which could do 31 miles on battery only, which is 5.6 miles per kWh. NEDC is much more generous than WLTP, in reality that's going to be similar efficiency to a Model 3 of c. 5 miles per kWh WLTP.In other words, the advance in energy efficiency and emissions reduction between the XL1 and the Mission Efficiency is

In a multi story that I was using earlier this evening, the MOT ran out in May 24. I do find the car park ones odd, I've seen other seemingly abandoned cars in other car parks, I'd love to know the reasons.

A somewhat unbalanced duo which is acknowledged from the start in this head to head. I would never put these two on the same page and i found myself unpicking the Porsche rather than comparing it to the Morgan. Despite the indifferences the 911 wins out.

I got the make and basic model in three - not Cardle's answer though. Ironically I intended to type in Challenger but ended up typing Charger for some reason - so I got it right by default!

If its styling fuses a little 6GT with a little 720S, I can't see it going far wrong.Building an SUV is a sad but perhaps necessary evil. Performance manufacturers should really look at a different set of priorities to luxury marques. A McLaren, Ferrari, Lambo, Porsche, or even Bentley SUV should be something that could conceivably win a race. Make the body low and wide, and if it has to be jacked up, make it jacked up for sand dunes and mud pits, not Kensington kerbs and speedbumps. Most importantly, make it weigh less! Else there's no S about it, it's just a big fat squishy UV.
