Are you going like for like or would you consider an EV. I presuming you wouldn t but many many people would. Equally you talk about a price differential between petrol and diesel. That s not the issue, the issue is that it s now 40% dearer than it was a few months ago to travel the same distance. That additional cost could be the difference between getting to work or not. Or buying a school uniform school trip or getting that weekend away or a myriad of other things. And the cost of everything else has just gone up too. The point is that changing car when there s no immediate need isn t what s being discussed it s changing fuel type when the car does need to be replaced, no matter what that reason is. And it s a discussion about normal people not the pretend billionaires on here who just lease and fake it hoping to make it. For a lot of people it is a financial decision and one that may well make sense for them. Depreciation is irrelevant until you sell a car and 99.99% of cars deprecate servicing is moot as both need it. Ditto insurance. Ditto road tax / ppm c
