Hi everyone,I’m interested in hearing what people here look for when choosing a car for everyday use. For me, a good all-rounder should be reliable, comfortable on longer journeys, reasonably economical, and enjoyable to drive. Running costs also matter, especially fuel consumption, insurance, servicing, and unexpected repairs.Some cars look great on paper but can become expensive to maintain as they get older. On the other hand, a well-maintained used car can offer excellent value and plenty of driving enjoyment without the cost of buying something brand new.I’d be interested to hear what car

An old banger is of no use to me (or wife). Cars need to start, reliably, first time every time (or as near as).Running costs - important, but no longer the be all and end all. Not something that looks / sounds outrageous. I'm not 12, so I don't want a supercar.Realistically, most of our journeys will be done in whatever leased EV the wife has most recently chosen (of the 3-4 final options she's been presented with by me, given the requirements she's given me, and the prior 12 months' of "thats nice / ugly" etc), but our longer journeys (with luggage etc) will be in my octavia. There's fewer days where we need 2 cars now, but we'll stick with 2 for a few more years, and then consider switching down to 1.As for things on a car that make it great...comfy heated seatsdecent stereo no droney engine noisedecent performance (200+ bhp)And if I'm being really boring, decent auto/matrix headlights - just make long journeys on country roads so much more relaxing/easier
