I was once, a long time ago, driving down a fairly narrow road where for two cars to pass they had to slow right down, but there was a side road on the other side of the road to me (which was very wide at the entrance and was effectively like a passing place). I come around a corner to see someone coming the other way, and just carried on, because by the time I got to them they'd be able to tuck a foot into the side road / passing place (not stopping, just pull in a bit as if the road is wider, which it was) and I'd drive by with ease.They slammed on their brakes and stopped on the narrow bit of road about 6 ft before the road got wider, and I suddenly realise I need to do an emergency stop, which involved skidding in the dirt by the side of the road as I was tucked in myself. Just to make even more clear that the other person was a proper knob she - (1) Insisted on calling the police and not moving her car blocking the road until they turned up.(2) Wanted to go through insurance despite almost zero damage. (I actually managed to persuade her to let me try to do the "repair" myself first, turned up the next day with a rag and some petrol and spent about 60 seconds rubbing my paint off of her black bumper).Oh yeah, and I think the reason she called the police was because I was young and had a cheap car therefore I must have been uninsured.If I were to be harsh, it sounds like you drove into a stationary object there There is the rule of these situations, that if you are the one moving last then it's tricky to argue that someone else hit you.I know a road in a built up setting with similar disagreement about how it is to be used.
