Great news! The saab looks brilliant. And I always liked the wheels from page 1. With the rover and now this saab back on the road you'll have a great choice of vehicles. From memory, is it now only the insight that needs major work?
Well, it made it to its first show, had to be the PH Annual Service! Thanks to everyone who stopped and said hellow - it was once again a highlight of the summer to meet so many PHers in the real world and natter on about the finer details of hydrocarbon-burning four wheeled objects of our desire.Given other commitments and my wife's recovery this year the 900 had been safely tucked away in a friend's garage for the summer. Thankfully, after all that work, the battery just needed a nudge and we were away...Once the restoration was finished I had kept my standard eBay search for Saab 900 alloys going, just in case anything tasty came up, as although the 3 spoke 15s are 'the classic Turbo Saab rim', this car has a cleaner, classic look that its owner wanted to enhance.I got lucky when a Saab fanatic posted up four 16in period cross spoke Ronals, fresly refurbished and with brand new Dunlop tyres, for a very good price 'to a good home'. I sent him this thread and passed the test - but I hadn't actually opened the packages until Thursday...The wheel change on the lift also allowed me to spot and defuse a rogue escaping CV clip...Now, I know the audience will be split on alloys, always a divisive subject, but with the non-Aero look we think these cross spokes are truly the best match for the car! With a few more checks and the Alfa 164 tucked away in its place, we hit the road for a first drive home at sunset with Mrs Sprinakerr and a freshly restored Saab. An enitrely enjoyable cruise up the M3 - suspension on the B6 Bilsteins is truly excellent, brakes in good order. The engine has some hesitation at full boost, but I'm going to feed it some fresh higher octane fuel and sheck over the system (ah, the memories). Otherwise, bang on Saab wafting!Tweaks for the PH Annual ServiceFirstly, a proper clean of the interior with a wet vac and acres of sticky roller. We can't be driving about with that volume of fluff in a car.Secondly, the side repeaters which has somehow been repl

Writing the title made me wonder how many rear engined coupes have existed. I got 911 (obviously), some Alpines, Delorean, Fiat / Abarth versions of the 850. There must be more. But this is none of those. Its Japanese, made in the '80s and sold here in reasonable numbers. But they are now firmly in the category of 'rare but nobody gives a st'. And only a handful remain. It's a car I've had a yearning to own and got outbid on one at auction many years ago. More recently I contacted a seller on FB, we agreed a price and then he blocked me...So I broke the first rule of car buying and bought one s

I'm debating what I do with a speedo conversion. Plus point with the Lockwood is you get mph and kph whereas converting it on the CAN leaves you with mph only. Or I could just leave it in Km. I'm fairly used to doing it in my head that way around. Of course, there was an incident in the Forester where I forgot it was converted and I took it up to an indicated 100 thinking 'this feels strangely fast'
