Dynion Araf Uchaf said: The issue is whether XL tyres are correct for your car. XL means the tyre wall is stiffer so that might be why the tyre isn t stretching like you want it toI don't know if it's still the case but first generation CrossClimates were all XL. Used them on a cooking Golf with no issues.

Panamax said: As an owner of big sports cars with high performance tyres I these days find almost all tyres in the correct size are in fact XL tyres, engineered for SUVs, although there don't seem to be "non-XL" equivalents available to buy. XL tyres certainly work on a sports car, although the sidewalls are a bit stiff regarding ride quality.I had grown up believing the "load rating" figure on a tyre was significant, such as 88 or 91, and that tyres were correct so long as they equalled or exceeded the OEM tyre figure. And now I find there are two aspects of how a tyre is described. XL being about Extra Load and meaning the tire has stronger internal cords and thicker sidewalls to allow for higher inflation pressures on hefty vehicles.Load Rating separately identifies the maximum weight to be carried by that tyre.I was surprised to find RF doesn't mean Run-Flat but means Reinforced, so apparently the same as XL. It just happens that my run-flats were marked RF.Regarding the tyres in this thread, the width of 235 or whatever is sidewall to sidewall but doesn't say anything about the actual width of the tread. What I really don't understand is how that tyre looks so wrong on the wheel. Is the rim protector much smaller or something?Edited by Panamax on Saturday 29th August 22:58 I've had the same issue, all the 18s I've bought for my BMW Z4M have been Reinforced or XL because there don't seem to be any that aren't. Most of the runflats I've had on BMWs have had "ESC" stamped on them.Based on what I have read the tread width on CC3s isn't nearly as wide as what is stamped on them which is why they look stretched. Maybe if you really want CC3s you need to order them about 3 sizes wider? Or just buy another brand of All-Seasons!
