CA2 said: Great stuff! Can't wait to see it on its wheels.I collect my new rally raid project tomorrow, it's the polar opposite of yours Build thread coming soon...As long as it's not another Range Rover you'll be fine Looking forward to seeing it.
Well that completes a big part of this project, the cars back on its wheels:There is a big chunk of setup to do now and very likely some more ride height going into it as I still have 30mm left to play with but it's a big result that everything bolted up perfectly given the number of changes to both components and overall geometry! The original stuff, despite being 28 years old, came off without too much of a fight although one rear camber eccentric did need cutting out as it was seized in the bush:The reciprocating saw made short work of it, this is a really common problem to have when refreshing suspension on 9X6 and 9X7 and I'd always recommend just cutting them out rather than fighting them! One ARB/Pinch bolt also needed some persuading out: But this was easily done by cutting the end off and using a socked on the 17mm hex with the ugga dugga gun turned up to full! With that done I built the corner up accordingly: No need to modify the suspension turret at the rear as the cutout is more than big enough as standard to pass the remote res through:I'll need to work out a way to seal these to avoid too much dust getting in the car! The rear remote reservoirs bit in the recess created by removing the folding roof gearbox on each side. I drew up a bracket that picks up two of the studs which originally mounted the gearbox and then res mounts to this via the same heat shrunk hose clips as used on the front:All fits very nicely and is totally clear of the engine cover so no need to mess about unbolting things to remove that should access be required: One thing I do need to do is bag the reservoirs just in case a very heavy landing pops them, this is very much an edge case but given they are behind the seats I don't fancy a 100 degree C damper oil bath mid stage! The next step is to set it up properly, I've done some sweeps just to make sure there is sufficient adjustment in all the corners and whilst we are essentially at the limit of several joints in full droop there

If its styling fuses a little 6GT with a little 720S, I can't see it going far wrong.Building an SUV is a sad but perhaps necessary evil. Performance manufacturers should really look at a different set of priorities to luxury marques. A McLaren, Ferrari, Lambo, Porsche, or even Bentley SUV should be something that could conceivably win a race. Make the body low and wide, and if it has to be jacked up, make it jacked up for sand dunes and mud pits, not Kensington kerbs and speedbumps. Most importantly, make it weigh less! Else there's no S about it, it's just a big fat squishy UV.
Writing the title made me wonder how many rear engined coupes have existed. I got 911 (obviously), some Alpines, Delorean, Fiat / Abarth versions of the 850. There must be more. But this is none of those. Its Japanese, made in the '80s and sold here in reasonable numbers. But they are now firmly in the category of 'rare but nobody gives a st'. And only a handful remain. It's a car I've had a yearning to own and got outbid on one at auction many years ago. More recently I contacted a seller on FB, we agreed a price and then he blocked me...So I broke the first rule of car buying and bought one s

I'm debating what I do with a speedo conversion. Plus point with the Lockwood is you get mph and kph whereas converting it on the CAN leaves you with mph only. Or I could just leave it in Km. I'm fairly used to doing it in my head that way around. Of course, there was an incident in the Forester where I forgot it was converted and I took it up to an indicated 100 thinking 'this feels strangely fast'
