There are separate teams for interior and exterior. Yes they are overseen by the overall director like McGovern but there are separate skills. Mark Butler runs the interior design team at JLR.

It's perfectly possible to have 'luxury buttons'; high quality tactile objects that are easier, safer, and nicer to use than a screen.'But you don't need them grandad, just talk to the car'. Well, my Gen Z friend, I don't want to have to enunciate loudly and clearly with specific syntax while I am driving. And then repeat it because the car has not understood. I want to listen to the radio. I want to talk to my passengers. I want to keep quiet and let the kids sleep in the back. I can do all that and with a flick of muscle memory change the heating or zoom out the map.But let's be clear. It's very little to do with design; it's all about the money. Not putting in buttons saves the manufacturer a tenner here and a fiver there. Which I completely understand for VW making low cost Polos and Golfs with terrible cabins. But why do it at the JLR end of things, with buyers who are not that price sensitive.Screens also means no problem with melting buttons and buttons that lose their labeling over time, no need for cheap-feeling buttons that are shared with the lower-end and the halo cars anymore, no complaints about blank buttons which were commonly brought up by reviewers in the past, and modern button-laid interiors like the first generation Panamara or the Corvette c8 weren't universally praised anyway. I would also question how save it really is with buttons given the amount needed for modern car functions. I certainly don't got the "muscle memory" to remember all the functions in my car, so I would have to take the eyes of the road and seek through the sea of hard to read and sometimes hard to reach buttons anyway.

Great little car, sure, I m not going to wake up on a Sunday morning and take it for a drive, but for day to day requirements it s brilliant. I d certainly take it for 95% of my driving situations vs my old 172 Cup. It definitely doesn t need 400hp and AWD - that s really not the point of this car. Plenty of heavy and overpowered EVs already. A little more power and range would be nice, which no doubt will come with the next gen. Edited by JAMSXR on Friday 30th October 06:01 I appre

Anyone else feel like driving at night is getting worse now thanks to modern cars and their collapsed suns blinding everyone?Landrovers are bad for it but that's also because they're higher up, still no excuse it's like they're always on full beam. BMW's as well, everytime I now pass a new one I can bearly bloody see.Sometimes I flash them as I think to myself they definitley have their full beams on, only for them to flash me back and illuminate the whole fking county
