Everyone has a sliding scale of hardcore, but I think the lotus is the sweetspot and any further in the hardcore direction such as caterham etc all starts getting too compromised to use it other than very infrequently on the road. I ve taken my old Elise to France for Le Mans with all the camping st for 2 people with a tent each. I ve driven my exige down to Spain and was accompanied by Mrs Shnozz on that trip. Luggage space isn t all that woeful if you use soft bags and squeeze every inch out of the available space. I must say I wouldn t have been comfortable doing that in one without air con mind you. Same with having CarPlay and a switchable exhaust valve. Agree with both here. My Elise 111R is the only car I regret selling. Regularly dip into the ads to see what's out there. My mate has a caterham and while I like the idea of one for the odd Sunday blast, as Shnozz says I think the Elise is the sweetspot. Changed it for a 987 Boxster S which I loved, but never the same.
