Fresh paint looks splendid!
We are nearing the end, thank goodness. The 900 Turbo has now left 2refinish after ganing an MOT and being finely fettled. Kudos to the team there for continuing to chip away at issues like the fuel sender and reversing lights after we had agreed the final bill and 'cutoff' of fettling.I drove up to Hinckley in the Accord to collect the final boxes of spares to sell, and of course... drive it for the first time. Driving up to see this at 10am as the first rays of spring sunchine cracked the clouds was quite a moment, I can tell you.Very, very happy with this - the new grill for a flat front I picked out looks perfect! There are still badges, leather seats and perhaps a set of wheels before it is 'done', but that comes under standard maintenance now. As you can see from the existing photos in the thread, the metalwork is top notch, and the paint is good for another few decades, once I get the ceramic coating on!The dial cluster has a mixture of parts from the constituent cars, and also another wiring loom from a Ruby had to be deployed for the front end. I really like the fact that this brings together a huge amount of parts and Saabs that were 'end of life'.A turn of the key and that familiar woofle brought it all flooding back... many years have been spent in this car, although I am typically a passenger! The double exit exhaust luckily gives the slightly flat standard idle a better note to my ears. Then we were off for a quite test around the estate, and of course... a turbo test... my goodness! The biggest change is absolutely the suspension and handling - straight line its unchanged, but with every strut, bush and arm renewed, Bilstein bright yellow stuff installed and new springs it is absolutely transformed. It has never driven better - thank goodness after all this time and money.Boxes ticked, final spares stacked up - I waved goodbye again as a trusted friend will be transporting it down to storage for some springtime fixes. Mrs Spinakerr has not been very w

Writing the title made me wonder how many rear engined coupes have existed. I got 911 (obviously), some Alpines, Delorean, Fiat / Abarth versions of the 850. There must be more. But this is none of those. Its Japanese, made in the '80s and sold here in reasonable numbers. But they are now firmly in the category of 'rare but nobody gives a st'. And only a handful remain. It's a car I've had a yearning to own and got outbid on one at auction many years ago. More recently I contacted a seller on FB, we agreed a price and then he blocked me...So I broke the first rule of car buying and bought one s

I'm debating what I do with a speedo conversion. Plus point with the Lockwood is you get mph and kph whereas converting it on the CAN leaves you with mph only. Or I could just leave it in Km. I'm fairly used to doing it in my head that way around. Of course, there was an incident in the Forester where I forgot it was converted and I took it up to an indicated 100 thinking 'this feels strangely fast'
