Now that’s a lovely looking steering wheel
With the steering wheel and gear knob complete I could turn my attentions to the next part of the plan the seats .Special mention goes to Mdifficult as it was reading about the seat upgrade on his lovely R8 that tempted me to spend even more money on the car so thanks Tom The stock Recaro seats in the Fiesta ST MK8 are fine but are not the comfiest things on long journeys so I set about looking at what options there were to replace them .I did not want to go down the bucket seat route as I have OMP Champ R units in the Civic and wanted to keep the heated option .I have all ways loved the look of the Ford Performance seats in the Puma ST and the Fiesta ST MK8.5 and after a bit of research they are an almost bolt in replacement so this looked to be the best option going forward until I realised what they are going for on the second-hand market .You will not get much change out of £ 1,500 for a good set of front heated seats .After telling myself they are way too much money for some OEM seats I did the only sensible thing and placed an order for some A1 grade condition units just north of £ 1,600 !!!!The only problem was that they were from a 2024 Puma ST so the subframes from my old Recaro seats in the Fiesta would need to be used as the Puma seats sit higher on their subframes .The only other issue was that I would need to change out the rear seats as this would miss match with the original seats, but Puma ST rear seats do not fit without a lot of work .As luck would have it there was a rear set of Fiesta ST MK8.5 seats for sale and they are the exact same as the Puma ST items just with different base fixings, so another order was placed for them .First job was to get the original seats out .Fronts RearsRemoved Then it was on to swapping over the front subframes from the old seats to the new units .Last job was to get them install and make sure that all functions like the heating and adjusters were working as they should .To finish a before and after photo .Recaro un

Writing the title made me wonder how many rear engined coupes have existed. I got 911 (obviously), some Alpines, Delorean, Fiat / Abarth versions of the 850. There must be more. But this is none of those. Its Japanese, made in the '80s and sold here in reasonable numbers. But they are now firmly in the category of 'rare but nobody gives a st'. And only a handful remain. It's a car I've had a yearning to own and got outbid on one at auction many years ago. More recently I contacted a seller on FB, we agreed a price and then he blocked me...So I broke the first rule of car buying and bought one s

I'm debating what I do with a speedo conversion. Plus point with the Lockwood is you get mph and kph whereas converting it on the CAN leaves you with mph only. Or I could just leave it in Km. I'm fairly used to doing it in my head that way around. Of course, there was an incident in the Forester where I forgot it was converted and I took it up to an indicated 100 thinking 'this feels strangely fast'
