Firstly an apology and a correction, I stated yesterday that milage was approximately 1020, it wasn't, I'm a dhead who can't add up apparently, it was in fact 954 miles, today it is a correctly calculated 1043 miles so far.And so without further ado, the penultimate episode of...... THE BOBBERSESES DO THE NC500......So after an ok night in Gairloch we were rudely awakened by some other hotel guests slamming doors and talking loudly at 0645 this morning. We dragged ourselves out of bed at 0715, washed, dressed, packed, put the suitcases in the car and sat ourselves down for what turned out to be a half decent breakfast during which we discussed the next part of our journey, now the official NC500 goes as follows -However we had several hours to kill and it would appear no where to kill them, so we decided to deviate slightly from the route and did the below which includes most of the NC500 route.So the first leg to Lochcarron was mostly open roads and lochside driving, Lochcarron doesn't have a lot to offer, especially as most places were shut yet again......So we carried on to Applcross via the coast road, and we were back to single track roads, steep gradients and very sharp bends, but oh my god such stunning views!!!!You are literally on the edge of the ocean in places, but also in amongst mountains and valleys, the scenery on these sections really is just stunning, a couple of pictures still totally inadequate to show it, but it's what I have.During these sections there are loads of passing places, however not everyone uses them, we had two campers push through basically forcing us off the road, and idiot in Merc who went round us when we stopped to let someone through, and several bikes overtook us in places I really wouldn't have overtaken.Some of the sections are open flowing moorland, some are lochside roads with a fairly good field of view, and some are absolutely draining and second/third gear at best, petrol stations seem fairly abundant however a lot of
