ChrisRF1 said: Looks great now with all the changes you've made, exactly how it should look! I've been toying with getting one of these as a more comfortable daily than my current hot hatch. I don't need a touring but there's just something about them that's cooler than a saloon or a hatchback.I did have a read through the thread so apologies if I've missed this, but are there any engines to avoid/major things to look for with this generation? I could go either way with petrol or diesel, in that I don't do many miles a year but when I do drive its 50/50 between longer trips and shorter trips.Agree; they're easy to personalise etc and that's what I've done; that and the added suspension overhaul made it a much better car than I bought etc - plus sticking with 18s makes the ride smooth and comfy; but still chuckable when you want to put your foot down a bit more All the engines are fine as long as they've been looked after - I test drove a 328i, this 325D, a 330D and a Luxury spec 320D and they were all good; the 330D was ruled out as it was basic, xDrive and overpriced; the 320D felt more like a lazy car; the 328i was great and really picked up but it didn't have heated seats nor the Brembo brake pack etc - the 325D ticked all the boxes spec wise but also had a good amount of SH paperwork, BMWSH paperwork and it'd had the EGR recalls done etcWhat's paramount is service history with paperwork to prove, not just iDrive and regular oil & filter changesThey're easy to work on, easy to get parts and not silly expensive to maintain

Writing the title made me wonder how many rear engined coupes have existed. I got 911 (obviously), some Alpines, Delorean, Fiat / Abarth versions of the 850. There must be more. But this is none of those. Its Japanese, made in the '80s and sold here in reasonable numbers. But they are now firmly in the category of 'rare but nobody gives a st'. And only a handful remain. It's a car I've had a yearning to own and got outbid on one at auction many years ago. More recently I contacted a seller on FB, we agreed a price and then he blocked me...So I broke the first rule of car buying and bought one s

I'm debating what I do with a speedo conversion. Plus point with the Lockwood is you get mph and kph whereas converting it on the CAN leaves you with mph only. Or I could just leave it in Km. I'm fairly used to doing it in my head that way around. Of course, there was an incident in the Forester where I forgot it was converted and I took it up to an indicated 100 thinking 'this feels strangely fast'
