My commute is zero miles as I work from home. I appreciate it's not for everyone, but for me it's not just about the mileage and the ever increasing cost of fuel, it's the time too.My company has two sites, both pretty much the same distance from home. One takes about 20 minutes each way, while the other can take upwards of an hour. The latter also has all sorts of restrictions on access and parking, with park and ride increasingly becoming the only realistic option.You couldn't pay me enough to spend two hours or more a day, over 10 hours a week, sitting in gridlock. When it got to the point of choosing between the bus and organising car shares, I bought a motorbike instead. Unfortunately, I got knocked off three times in about 18 months. Thankfully all relatively low speed, typical "sorry mate, didn't see you" incidents.I've got an ebike now, so I might give that a go next time I need to head into the office. Unfortunately, the cycle path network isn't great, so it'll be back to watching out for people trying to kill me.I do sometimes wonder whether working from home full time is necessarily the healthiest arrangement. There are definitely pros and cons, particularly when it comes to social interaction. But the older I get, the more I value my own time, and I certainly don't miss wasting it commuting.
