Ah, the crumple zones weren't given a chance to do their job because the hardpoints at the front of the truck were too high.fk... (Sobering thought for those of us who drive very-low cars)

Dixy said: The advantage of a 4X4 is you get further from help before getting stuck.As soon as you know you are in trouble, STOP, do not dig 4 holes, wait for the tide to come in to axle deep or higher then try gently, most cars almost float.Don't ask me how I know.I hope I never need to remember thatThe Range rover reminds me of a walk on Daytona Beach - cars were allowed to drive on it - watched a minivan enter and initial progress was fine until it bogged down - driver was using the “clarkson technique” and just digging in - I walked over and said the driver should rock the car using drive and reverse to get out of the hole he’d made - it didn’t work because the driver was still using the same approach that got him stuck in the first place. Said let me try, driver got out I got in and I looked in the back and every seat was full of adults!!!!Everybody out….. To this day I honestly think they thought I was gonna steal it!!!!!Anyway once out of the hole - gave it back to the driver and suggested everyone else walked to the next beach road exitWe had company for the next 200 yrd walk
