증상
앞 타이어만 교체가 필요한데, 기존 속도 등급(speed rating)과 일치하는 타이어를 찾기가 어렵고 비용이 많이 든다. 각 액슬별로는 같은 속도 등급이면 되지만, 앞뒤 액슬 간에 속도 등급이 다르면 문제가 될까?

속도 등급이란 타이어가 장시간 안전하게 유지할 수 있는 속도를 나타낸다. 높은 속도 등급일수록 고속 주행 시 제어력과 핸들링이 우수하고 열에 강하다. 일반적으로 높은 속도 등급 타이어는 저속 주행 시에도 성능이 좋다. 미국 교통부(DOT)에서 정한 속도 등급 기준: M(시속 81km), N(87km), P(93km), Q(99km), R(106km), S(112km), T(118km), H(130km), V(149km), W(168km), Y(186km), Z(186km 이상). 요약: 차량을 경주용으로 사용하지 않는다면, 각 액슬의 타이어 속도 등급이 일치하는 한 앞뒤 액슬 간에 다른 등급을 사용해도 실질적 문제는 없다. 다만 제조사 권장사항을 확인하고, 안전성을 위해 앞 타이어의 속도 등급이 뒷 타이어보다 낮지 않도록 하는 것이 좋다.

Friday and the first time I'm out for a drive by myself. BBB was hanging with the famalam in Hereford and then meeting me at the narrow boats down in Llangattock, so I was exploring South Wales via all the two lane B roads I could find.
