So I've always been a bit nervous doing that ever since really, I've still done it don't get me wrong, but I just hope that the other drivers are concentrating when I've done it though. I never do it for that reason - no matter what bhp I might have on tap. The speed you reach by the time you're alongside car 3 (for example) leaves little margin for the judgement of others. That happened to a

Much more than that and you are rarely actually using peak power very often, so it becomes largely irrelevant, it's either being held back by your right foot or the electronics.I think there's room for a bit more. My car's 210-215bhp/ton and it's very quick, but another 50bhp or so would only be a good thingThat's the thing, you very quickly get used to higher and higher power levels - it's how F1 drivers are able to drive the cars they drive (although granted they are at the extreme end of what a human body can do, and have to put in the training to get to that last 20% of performance).I remember the first drive I had in my old Evo VIII - it was 360 bhp and about 1.5 tonnes and I thought it was a rocket ship, and comparatively it was, there were very few cars back then that could keep up with it. A few months later it was up to 415 bhp and I was thinking about how 450 bhp would be "ideal for the road"! Now I drive a 996 Turbo with about 600 bhp, so pushing 400 bhp per ton and it feels like a rocket ship, but you can still drive it flat out at times.I remember at 17 going from a 2 bhp suzuki TS50ER to a 12 bhp TS125ER. For the first week or 2 I struggled to keep the front wheel.on the ground. 2 years later when I rode my z500 home, I couldn't believe how quick it was. After owning a metro turbo which had the powerband of an RD350LC...... I owned a Fiat 126 for commuting. The complete lack of power, and torque and a maximum speed that was barely above the motorway speed limit and took a week to get there. What it taught me about driving was planning and anticipation. I would often overtake much faster cars on the country lanes, by planning before a bend, kind of a slingshot approach. Put distance between myself and the car in front and accelerate around the bend, giving you just enough time to either overtake or brake if there was oncoming tra

Pretty ridiculous situation really.I guess that I'l

Corrado for me too...the first time I saw one in the showroom that was it, sadly I couldn't afford one they were more expensive than a Golf GTi 16v. A few years later they had just went out of production and I went looking for one...a year later I found exactly the car I wanted at a VAG main dealer, Corrado 16v, red, low miles...checking it over I discovered it was accident damaged, I was gutted.I never owned one...but I did promise myself if ever VW made another coupe I'd buy one, so I got a new Scirocco.
