Not fuels so we don't have to.So absolutely nothing to do with the incredibly poor energy efficiency that all renewable or synthetic fuel pathways are lumbered with?For synthetic fuel, for example, the same electricity can power 6 or 7 EVs per single ICE vehicle running on e-fuel.For bio fuels, the amount of land required per vehicle is astonishing.Crop grown fuels can require up to 1 acre per car.Do you think it sounds like a good idea to assign thousand of acres of land to grow car fuel when a single offshore wind turbine can power the same number of EVs?The problem is not politics, it's fundamental first principles of science and maths that severely limits the economic scalability of these pathways to meet the needs of tens or hundreds of millions of cars, let alone billions.Like Ethanol in the US, farmland equivalent to the whole of the UK is used to produce corn and sugar cane used in producing Ethanol and it only offsets 6% of petrol usage.The US does have the luxury of a lot of space, we dont really. People will moan about the space used by Solar facilities but seen ambivalent if farmland is used to grow stuff for petrol.It does seem mad to grow a crop using the sun, then harvest it, process it into fuel, the energy returned is orders of magnitude better with solar.Its all pissing into the wind these biofuels, the answer to mass personal mobility has arrived in the form of the EV. Can still love ICE cars, went to a car meet and there was some wonderful stuff there, this was the star of the show....
