Oil leak 2013 Chevy Sonic Timing Cover?
If you can't trace the leak then you can't form a good plan of action, you could spend a good deal of time and money fixing a minor issue, or you could leave a more serious issue. UV dye is cheap and easy to use, and tracing the leak will give you the information you need to decide if you need to do anything. You could just live with it - it may be minor, but you'll never really know and it will always be at the back of your mind. The worst case scenario is you blow a seal, lose your oil and seize your engine which would suck. If you do decide to use the dye you should first use a UV light to check to see if there's already dye there, if there is you'll need to clean it off so you can see the new dye. Once you add the dye don't wait days to check for the dye, check it as soon as you can after a decent drive, and then as often as you can after.

2003 Hyundai Santa Fe will start then die. Then it will not start. After pumping the accelerator or holding on the floor and returning later it will start. Nothing codes out. This happens probably 15% of the time. Any ideas?

A friend has an older Miata that was improperly stored for at least three years. Most of the time, it was not garaged. The gas is old, the battery is dead, it has not been started. It was probably parked without an oil change. He is looking to do the minimum to get this sellable, so the primary concern is the initial startup and the brakes. What would be recommended , especially regarding that first engine startup?

I’ve asked a few mechanics and DIYers this question and so far no consensus. Let’s say you’re 1000 miles away from next SCHEDULED oil change, and you’re about to leave on a 2000 mile road trip. Would you choose to change your oil 1000 miles early before the trip, or 1000 miles late after the trip?
