Unreal said: Olivergt said: Unreal said: I'll preface my reply by saying I really couldn't care less about the reliability or otherwise of EVs and I await the return of the thread to its title.Having got that out of the way, in th meantime, if I was really interested and wanted to draw some meaningful conclusions, I think I'd like to see comparisons by age as well as mileage, the types of faults, level of problem e.g breakdowns, recalls, cost of repairs and probably a few other things as well. I don't disagree that MOT failure rates are one potentially useful measure, once cars are over three years old anyway. Before long we will have more data on a wider range of EVs going back for a substantially longer period. At the moment if you want to go back much more than five years you are pretty limited by which EVs were available before then. Can you get those metrics for ICE cars?I don't know. I expect so. If I did a search on one of my cars, an X5, made between 2014 and 2018 I think, I'm sure I could find a hundred articles, videos and road tests on the model. Many would focus on common problems. I can't do that with a 2014-2018 luxury EV because there weren't any that I have heard of. All I'm saying is that as we go forward, more meaningful comparisons will be available, which can only be a good thing. But those article, reviews and road tests, although probably quite good, will not have empirical facts about the cars in question, they will just be the testers/writers opinions. The Reviews and Road Tests will more than likely have been done when the car was new, so no reliability data would even be available. The thing with the MOT data is that it is simply facts based on test performed on every vehicle on the road, without an agenda. P.S. I'm not discounting the articles, videos and road tests, which are actually available for EV's that do exist. Claiming you can't find an article for an EV that doesn't exist is a bit of a long shot.

This car was sold all over the world in different specifications that's the only difference. People seem to think JDM is for any car from Japan which it isn't.You're entirely incorrect here. JDM can be applied to any car car destined for the Japanese domestic market.Yes, people incorrectly say 'JDM' when it's a Civic originally sold in Peterborough, but this is a Japanese only model originally sold domestically in Japan.

I appreciate that this isn t a very Pistonheads kind of vehicle but I thought it might be of a little bit of interest to some. Despite the love I had for my Fiat Panda 4x4 Cross winter car, I ve always really hankered after one of the latest Suzuki Jimny s but never actually did it whilst they were officially available in the UK. However, I recently got the chance to pick up a brand new import and decided to go for it.The car is exactly as it left the factory but I did get the dealer to upgrade the tyres for me as I d read some pretty poor (snow) reviews about the Dunlop Grand Trek tyres that

My A tech who is 55 years old had a cough one day and medically retired the next. He has a particularly nasty cancer. I'm just lost what to do. He's not only a good employee but a good friend. Been with me 8 years. I have always been lucky with finding techs...
