MDL111 said: My main issue with powerful heavy cars (not EVs in particular) is that I worry about them not being able to brake on the Autobahn as quickly as I can when they tailgate me at 200+ . I usually have one eye on the rear view mirror when braking hard to see if I have to take evasive action - rarely happens, but as with many things once would be enough for it to go spectacularly wrong.Modern stuff seems to brake pretty effectively and to be fair, higher vehicles often have a better view of the road ahead so may see things earlier. Its not the brand new SUV on decent tyres with massive

J4CKO said: Its a bit like the gun debate, a gun in itself is an inanimate object that can be dangerous in the wrong hands, in the UK gun ownership is limited and there arent many about, generally they are in the hands of responsible, vetted folk and we dont have lots of gun deaths. At the moment cars with greater than 1000 bhp, or anywhere near are limited to Bugatti owners, very rich folk who drive them fairly infrequently, usually fairly sensibly with the odd exception. But now, the Genie is out of the bottle with EV's, sure we have had lots of fast cars before but they tend to be enthusiast owned and mostly used by folk who have a little idea of what they are doing. But now we have a few models coming through with over a thousand bhp that weigh between 2.5 and 3 tons, they have four wheel drive, masses of grip and can accelerate to 100 mph in 4 and a bit seconds which does need some scrutiny. To be fair, I havent heard of any big power EVs particularly being used any more antisocially or dangerously than fast petrol stuff, its still M140is and all the other fast German stuff that seems to generate the column inches.Maybe fast EVs dont get idiots as excited, maybe they are still too expensive, maybe most drivers have the odd squirt but are mostly about preserving range ? Maybe the systems on the car reign in the worst or remind the driver its not a good idea to do a full bore acceleration run down a high street ? It does make me wonder as they migrate down, will we see more problems ? I am thinking of that terrible accident where the lady in the Defender killed two schoolgirls, that obviously wasnt an EV but the issue is the power, traction, weight and performance, when things do go wrong it will happen very quickly and be extremely destructive, remember an old boy locally losing control of a mk2 1.1 Escort as he slipped off the clutch, it revved loudly, lurched and conked out, same chap in the Merc the thread is about doesnt bear thinking about. Its not for me the

This car was sold all over the world in different specifications that's the only difference. People seem to think JDM is for any car from Japan which it isn't.You're entirely incorrect here. JDM can be applied to any car car destined for the Japanese domestic market.Yes, people incorrectly say 'JDM' when it's a Civic originally sold in Peterborough, but this is a Japanese only model originally sold domestically in Japan.

I appreciate that this isn t a very Pistonheads kind of vehicle but I thought it might be of a little bit of interest to some. Despite the love I had for my Fiat Panda 4x4 Cross winter car, I ve always really hankered after one of the latest Suzuki Jimny s but never actually did it whilst they were officially available in the UK. However, I recently got the chance to pick up a brand new import and decided to go for it.The car is exactly as it left the factory but I did get the dealer to upgrade the tyres for me as I d read some pretty poor (snow) reviews about the Dunlop Grand Trek tyres that

My A tech who is 55 years old had a cough one day and medically retired the next. He has a particularly nasty cancer. I'm just lost what to do. He's not only a good employee but a good friend. Been with me 8 years. I have always been lucky with finding techs...
