증상
앞바퀴 굴림 자동차에서 리어 타이어가 브레이킹에만 사용되는데, 브레이킹 시 타이어 트레드 효율을 높이기 위해 타이어를 역방향으로 장착하는 것이 좋은가? 눈길 주행 시 접지력이 향상될 수 있지만 연비가 증가할 수 있다.
처리 내용
방향성 트레드 타이어가 있다고 가정하면, 타이어를 180도 뒤집을 경우 패턴이 좌우 대칭으로 뒤집혀진다. 타이어 트레드는 물을 바퀴 아래에서 배출하는 '펌프' 역할을 한다. 방향성 타이어를 역방향으로 장착하면 물이 바퀴 아래로 모여 수막 현상을 일으킬 수 있으며, 앞바퀴 굴림 여부와 관계없이 핸들링에 심각한 영향을 미친다. 리어 엔드는 브레이킹뿐만 아니라 차량의 안정성 유지와 코너링에 필수적이다. 리어 트랙션이 없으면 앞바퀴 2개만으로 차량이 스핀 현상을 일으킨다 (유튜브 '반쪽 자동차' 영상 참고). 단, 양방향 트레드 타이어(180도 뒤집어도 패턴이 동일하고 사이드월에 회전 방향 마크 표시)가 있다면 어느 방향으로든 장착 가능하다.

Friday and the first time I'm out for a drive by myself. BBB was hanging with the famalam in Hereford and then meeting me at the narrow boats down in Llangattock, so I was exploring South Wales via all the two lane B roads I could find.
