Not only does this actually disturb the flow of traffic because by being "courteous" to one driver he/she is affecting the process of two, one of the driver behind could rightly assume that the driver slowing is turning (because they will never see the flash) and simply forgot to indicate and attempt to drive round them and then collide with the car the "courteous" driver decided to assist, or traffic coming in the other direction on main road has no obligation to slow/stop to allow waiting car in side street to come out having been flashed by the white knight, driver comes out of side street and they collide.Right of way exists for a reasons and people who try to pervert it for courtesy are simply hard of thinking. Another example of "suicidal empathy" where you think you are being nice but you are putting others in danger. The biggest problem is that the person being "courteous" isn't thinking beyond the courtesy to the one car they believe they are helping, failing to consider the consequences to others behind or around them.The other stupid example is the person who thinks they should give way to traffic on slip roads, instinctively moving into the centre lane often causing others to
