아니다, 타이어를 림에 접착할 필요는 없다. 밀폐는 단순히 고무와 합금(림) 사이의 접촉으로 이루어진다. 많은 타이어 정비소에서는 실링 컴파운드를 사용하기도 하는데, 이는 림 표면의 미세한 불완전성을 채워서 공기 누출을 방지하는 데 도움이 된다. 경험상 타이어를 정착시키는 데 필요한 압력은 타이어와 림의 개별 조합에 따라 매우 큰 편차가 있다. 장착 시 90+ psi까지 올려야 하는 경우도 봤을 정도다. 말할 필요도 없이 정비사가 정상 작동 압력(내 경우 32psi)으로 내릴 때까지 충분히 거리를 두고 있었다.
