I had a brief drive in it recently, and was very impressed with the build quality and the solid feeling of the car.i have had several BMWs, currently on an E46, so I am probably a little bit biased....The 6 series is a great looking car IMHO, and one that has aged very well.
My other half's car for the last 5 years has been a Mercedes ML350cdi. To it's credit it's was one of the most comfortable cars we've owned. Incredibly practical for a family of five but it was becoming costly. Last year we spent £1k on incidental repairs not including servicing etc. This year the A/C pump packed up but it also developed a timing chain rattle on cold. Frustrating as it only had 104k on it, full service history too but a timing chain replacement was an engine out job, £4k+ and even a local specialist wouldn't do the job. Been using an X1 all week, my eldests daily as he borrowed my Jaguar XJ for a trip up to Scotland.Didnt really relish the prospect as always thought it a bit of a boring lump but after a few days with it, I have to say I gelled with it.2.0 diesel Xdrive, goes ok but what impressed me was the ride and handling, was thinking would be a bit roly poly but I threw it about a bit and its amazingly competent and even, dare I say it, quite good fun.
