증상

타이어 공기압이 권장치(32~35 PSI)보다 높아졌을 때(37 PSI) 승객과 짐의 추가 하중으로 인한 경우, 현재 하중에 맞춰 공기를 빼도 안전한지 궁금함

처리 내용

공기압을 줄이면 안 됩니다. 오히려 추가 하중이 예상될 때는 타이어 공기압을 높여야 합니다. 예를 들어 닛산 캐시카이의 타이어 공기압 스티커를 보면: 정상 하중 시 모든 타이어는 33 PSI, 최대 하중(승객 4~7명, 짐 많음) 시 앞타이어 38 PSI, 뒷타이어 42 PSI로 권장합니다. 각 차종마다 고유의 공기압 사양이 있습니다. 왜 공기압 감소는 작동하지 않을까요? 타이어 내부의 공기압은 타이어 형태를 유지하는 데 도움이 됩니다. 차량에 더 많은 하중이 가해지면 타이어 내 공기량이 변하지 않은 상태에서 타이어 측면(사이드월)이 처질 것이므로, 결과적으로 타이어 공기압이 부족해집니다. 따라서 더 많은 공기를 넣어야(높은 압력) 하는 이유입니다. 반대 시나리오에서 타이어 공기압을 최대로 높였다가 차량 하중을 줄이면 타이어가 과압 상태가 됩니다.
