Got stuck behind someone in a Jazz. A 50 mph limit A426 road from Southam to Rugby if anyone knows it.Mrs was driving the Vitara so zero chance of an overtake thus had to dawdle along at between 40 and 45 for the entire 5 mile drive. Massive queue behind us As to be expected, as we finally trundled in to the 30 limit he just carried on at 40 odd mph.

Yes, much better to go 60 while looking at your phone than 70 while paying attention.Another had a video of a car driving through a town and they asked you to identify hazards. They then sped it up as if driving at 40 instead of 30 into a section of road with about a hundred glaring hazards, and explained it was due to the speed that we didn't all name the least immediate hazard that they had chosen as the one that mattered. Yes, well done. Some useful info though - very few fatalities happen on motorways and dual carriageways, so it's fine to speed on those. Also speeding at 78 in a 70 isn't worthwhile as you'll only save a very small amount of time - I took that to mean I should be driving at 90 as a minimum. In terms of physics, the law of diminishing returns applies.Consider a 280 mile motorway journey. At 70 mph, that's 4 hours. At 78 mph, that's 3 hours 35 minutes - a saving of 25 minutes. At 86 mph, it's 3 hours 15 minutes. The additional 8 mph saves only 20 extra minutes. At 94 mph, 2 hours 58 minutes. Down to 17 extra.Meanwhile, fuel consumption skyrockets. If you're aiming to make progress, 75-77 is a good speed to avoid worrying about cameras too much.If you want to be economical, 55-60 is a super efficient range without taking forever.Incidentally, per mile, doing 38 in a 30 will save a lot more journey time. But generally far more hazardous.Exactly, 94mph gets you there a LOT quicker than 70. A whole hour saved.Plus, less time on the road means less opportunity for an accident, so it's safer too "Time is life. Speed saves it." Stolen from a well respected motoring journalist.Time means nothing to me. I enjoy driving I.e. being out on the road. Economy means everything which also means more time out on the road enjoying one's self. If I hav

The front tyres on my car (Pirelli Cinturato P6) have the following DOT code (emphasis mine) DOT 93 E0 M061 What does "M061" mean? It doesn't seem to tell me the date of manufacture as should be expected from the last 4 digits for tyres made after 2000. How do I tell when they were made? I don't remember when these tyres were fitted, but the (front wheel drive) car was manufactured in 2012 and I've had the car since 2013. I recently replaced the rear 2 tyres, Avon (~ 6mm tread, 6 years old) and Continental (~ 4 mm tread, 7 years old), due to perishing (sidewall cracks) and a small bu

No exceptions.Used cars, you can do what you like. This would stop people constantly buying new cars. That would be the massive environmental benefit. It would also force manufacturers to make higher quality cars - because they would be paying for repairs - which would then last longer. Another big environmental benefit.(Please note: I do
