Also speeding at 78 in a 70 isn't worthwhile as you'll only save a very small amount of time - I took that to mean I should be driving at 90 as a minimum.In terms of physics, the law of diminishing returns applies.Consider a 280 mile motorway journey.At 70 mph, that's 4 hours.At 78 mph, that's 3 hours 35 minutes - a saving of 25 minutes.At 86 mph, it's 3 hours 15 minutes. The additional 8 mph saves only 20 extra minutes.At 94 mph, 2 hours 58 minutes. Down to 17 extra.Meanwhile, fuel consumption skyrockets.If you're aiming to make progress, 75-77 is a good speed to avoid worrying about cameras too much.If you want to be economical, 55-60 is a super efficient range without taking forever.Incidentally, per mile, doing 38 in a 30 will save a lot more journey time.
